Kinabalu Park is a botanist’s
paradise with over a thousand species of Orchids,
numerous different Rhododendrons and Pitcher
Plants. The bird life, most species being montane
and several which are endemic, is equally fascinating.
Stay overnight at Kinabalu Pine Resort or similar.
(Lunch and Dinner)
Breakfast. Pick up at 0930am and proceed
to Poring Hotsprings. Lowland Dipterocarp Forest
makes most of the vegetation at Poring, It is
an excellent place to view lowland birds and
some mammals. A short trek to the canopy walkway
for a bird’s eye view of the Tropical
Rainforest.
The Canopy Walkway is suspended
between trees at a height of 40m and offers
an excellent opportunity to observe wildlife
above the grounds. At the Poring Centre, you
will have a chance to soak yourselves in the
hot sulphur waters renowned for its therapeutic
properties. At 1430hrs, return to resort and
overnight. Overnight Kinabalu Pine Resort or
similar. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Breakfast. Proceed for the 05-06 hrs overland
journey to Sandakan. Enroute stop at Sabah Tea
Plantation, the largest tea producing factory
in Sabah. Learn how “RAINFOREST”
raw tea leaves is process for export and packed
on a guided tour. Buy some tea souvenirs to
take home. Upon arrival at Sandakan check in
at Sabah hotel. Relax at the pool under the
canopy of trees. (Breakfast/Lunch)
Breakfast. Proceed for the 05-06 hrs overland
journey to Sandakan. Enroute stop at Sabah Breakfast.
Pick up at 0900hrs from your hotel. 0930 transfer
to jetty for a 2 hrs speedboat journey to Selingan
Island. Check-in upon arrival. Free at leisure
for swimming, sunbathing or snorkeling. Dinner
will be served at the cafeteria at 1930hrs.
In the night at approximately 2200hrs, wait
for the famous green turtles to come ashore
to lay eggs. Overnight in simple chalet. (Share
bathroom) (Lunch/Dinner)
Breakfast. Depart for the Sandakan Jetty at
0700hrs boat. Pick up from Sandakan Jetty, depart
to the Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary to visit
the Orang Utans, who have been orphaned, illegally
captured and injured and are being rehabilitated
to be sent back to the wild. Lunch (simple local
lunch).
Overland transfer to Kinabatangan
River where the sukau village is situated. We
will pass through scenic countryside, local
villages and plantation. Visit Gomantong Caves
famous for the Chinese delicay-bird nest. Upon
arrival, check-in the Lodge along the Kinabatangan
River bank. The lower reach of Kinabatangan
River has the greatest concentration of wildlife
in Borneo. The most famous creature of all,
guaranteed to be sighted is undoubtedly the
bizarre Proboscis Monkeys. Late afternoon, go
for another river cruise in search of the Proboscis
Monkeys. Overnight at Lodge (no air-condition)
(Breakfast / Lunch/Dinner).
Wake up to the sound of Borneo. As the birds
are most active at this time, at 0600 hrs, take
a 1 ½ hrs boat trip, this time, to the
Ox-Bow Lakes. The many dramatic and beautiful
birds of the Kinabatangan region that may be
sighted are elegant egrets, several species
of kingfishers, the oriental darter which dives
underwater to catch its prey, swift and vividly
coloured bee-eaters and hornbills. Return to
the Lodge for breakfast. At 0900hrs, overland
to Sandakan to the airport for your flight.

Note :
~ Certain portions of the overland journey from
Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan, approximately a stretch
of 56km is on unsealed road, certain amount
of discomfort should be expected. We reserve
the right to change the itinerary due to availability
of the lodges.

torchlight, insect repellent, camera with fast
film and sunglasses.
