Board the motorised longboat
for another 3 hours to Kuala Tahan, the headquarters
of Taman Negara. Enroute you will be passing
local villages and lush tropical rainforest.
Any sightings of birds, monkeys, monitor lizards
or water buffaloes are a bonus. Sightings of
wildlife cannot be guaranteed due to the dense
and huge area of Taman Negara (4343 sq km)
You will be transferred by
boat to Tekah Village. Meet with family members
and be introduced to the local environment.
There will be one room with either one double
bed or two twin beds, a cupboard for your clothes,
common bathroom with cold bath, a dressing table
and a ceiling or standing fan. At leisure until
dinner. Dinner will consist of local home cooked
meal. After dinner we will take a boat to Kuala
Tahan where we will see a slide presentation
on Taman Negara. This will be followed by a
night walk. Return to Tekah Village. Overnight
(Dinner)
Local breakfast. After breakfast, trek
in the jungle up Teresik Hill. The guide will
highlight to you the rich flora found enroute.
At the top of Teresik Hill, you will enjoy a
panoramic view of the tropical rainforest and
on a clear day you could see Mount Tahan, the
highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia.
On our return, we will go
for the longest canopy walkway in the world,
built 30 metres above the ground and 480 metres
in length. You will experience the rainforest
from a different perspective. Lunch at a floating
restaurant, serving local food. This afternoon,
we will take a motorised boat to the cataracts
of Lata Berkoh for swimming and relaxing. Enjoy
the chorus and serenity of the tropical rainforest.
Return to Tekah Village in the late afternoon.
At leisure until dinner time. Dinner with your
host family. Overnight. (Fullboard)
Breakfast. The boat for Kuala Tembeling departs
at 0900hrs. This journey will take about 2 to
3 hours, depending on water level of the river.
The transfer to Kuala Lumpur will depart by
1200 hours, expected arrival time at your hotel
in Kuala Lumpur city centre is between 1530hrs
to 1600hrs.
What to bring:
A pair of walking shoes with rubber base, a
hat or cap, sun tan or block lotion, small waterproof
rucksack, Insect repellent, binoculars, water
bottle, swimming attire, light clothing-preferable
cotton material, torch, raincoat and a gift
for your host family.
Important:
This program was first introduced in July 1997.
The idea of this program is to offer the traveller
a very unique experience of appreciating the
beauty of the world’s oldest rainforest
and at the same time experiencing the generosity
and warmth of the Malaysian people.
It is not convenient to bring
suitcases for the boat ride. If you are not
returning to Kuala Lumpur, please deposit your
luggage (without important documents and valuables)
at Kuala Tembeling Jetty. Camera/video and fishing
licence is payable at Kuala Tembeling.
The rainy season is between
middle November to middle/end January. During
the rainy season, some of the activities may
be cancelled should there be a high element
of safety at risk.
