from your hotel and transferred to Damai where
you’ll board a motorized boat to Satang
Island. It is where Sir James Brooke more than
150 years ago sailed up its waters on his schooner,
the Royalist, to make a name for himself in
Sarawak's modern history.
Cruising pass the swaying
leaves of nipah palms, coconut and mangrove
trees and fishing villages you may be able to
catch glimpses of mudskippers foraging on the
mud-banks or even tiny agile flying fish leaping
across the bow of your boat. As the meandering
river joins the South China Sea the boat will
go pass Mt Santubong and you will see a great
number of "kilong" structures along
the shallow shores, the preferred and traditional
style of fishing of local Malay fishermen.
Arrive at Satang Island, traditionally
a haven for turtles on their migratory journey
around the world. You can spend the time for
swimming and snorkeling in the pristine waters
of Satang, well known for its beautiful corals
and colourful fishes. Pack lunch will be served.
Then, depart Satang Island
to Santubong River & cruise along the river
cruising on the complex ecosystem of the mangrove
swamp vegetation, which is an important breeding
ground for marine species such as mud- skippers,
crabs, shellfish & small reptiles. Also
can be found on the mangrove forest are different
species of monkeys; long – tailed macaque,
Silvered Langurs & proboscis monkeys.
As the cruise crisscross the
mouth of the Santubong River to the South China
Sea, in search of the rare Irrawaddy Dolphins
( Snubfin dolphin ) which is often seen swimming
& diving around small fishing boats in the
estuary. Visitor will need an eye to spot the
dolphins at first but after a short wait, they
can often be seen surfacing around the boat.
Dolphin watching is not granted depending on
tidal conditions.
Late afternoon, natures walk
to waterfall at the foot of the Mt Santubong
before transfer to hotel. (Meals: Breakfast,

This is Sarawak’s oldest National
Park. At 16 square kilometers, it is one of
the smallest National park in Sarawak yet one
of the most interesting because it contains
almost every type of vegetation found in Borneo,
from lush cliff and lowland dipterocarp forests
to almost desert-like scrubs on the upper plateau.
Among these vegetation is the carnivorous plant
of the pitcher, sundews and bladderworts family.
The mangrove forest provides a home for the
long-nosed or proboscis monkeys (endemic only
to Borneo), long-tailed macaques, silver-leaf
monkeys, monitor lizards, deer and wild boars.
We will go on a jungle walk and you may swim
in the warm waters of the South China Sea while
enjoying looking at unusual beauty of eroded
