An experience to be close to the
Iban natives of the jungle, only for those who

Meet at 0800hrs at your hotel lobby and
transfer to the jetty. Depart for a 45 minutes
boat ride to Selingan Island for swimming, sunbathing
or snorkeling (gear can be hired locally –
subject to availability). In the night, we wait
for the famous Green and Hawksbill turtles to
come ashore to lay eggs, the rangers transplanting
eggs to the hatchery and release of baby turtles
to the sea. Photography is strictly prohibited
from 0600 to 1800 hrs. Overnight at chalet (basic,
communal bathroom/attached bathroom chalet).
Meals: Lunch/Dinner
Morning return to Sandakan and check
in at the Renaissance Hotel. Afternoon proceed
up Kinabatangan River in search of the Proboscis
monkeys with the unusual long nose, endemic
only found Borneo! The male species has a large
pendulous nose, fat belly and thick white tail.
They are remarkable to watch as they leap forcefully
into space and land, crashing heavily into nearby
trees. Overnight at Renaissance Sandakan Hotel.
Meals: Breakfast
Early morning depart for Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary
to visit the Orangutans which have been orphaned,
illegally captured or injured being rehabilated
to be sent back to the wild. Arrive in time
for the feeding of the orangutans. Go on a nature
trail to see vegetation in the rainforest. Return
to Sandakan for lunch and proceed on a city
tour of Sandakan. Transfer to the airport, all
flights to be after 1700 hours. Meals: Breakfast/Lunch.
What to bring:
Rain coat, hand torch, personal toiletries,
cotton material clothings, swimming attire,
body soap, walking shoes with rubber sole, anti
– malaria tablets and sun tan/block lotion.
